Canberra Youth Theatre presents the ACT premiere of Sarah Kane’s
4:48 PSYCHOSIS
“ They will love me for that which will destroys me.” - Kane
The Play:
A dark and dynamic theatrical experience, 4.48 Psychosis was the last play written by contemporary In-Yer-Face playwright, Sarah Kane, before taking her own life in 1999. The play is a brutal, poetic and dynamic exploration of a mind preparing to shut itself down. Spiked with gallows humour, Kane's text charts a disjointed journey of mind and body; from darkness into light, pain into love, life into death. Fluid and elusive, with no clearly defined scenes, characters or setting, the ensemble will put their stamp on one of Kane’s most challenging works as they explore the impact of glamorization in the damning, contemporary world of depression.
