In 2016 Slava & Leonard Grigoryan, Australia’s finest guitar duo, were invited to perform a series of concerts with the Beijing Guitar Duo in the Shandong province of China.
The four guitarists felt an immediate musical connection, but as established duos at the top of their field on the international stage with busy touring schedules, it was not until August this year that they could reunite for the Australian tour that will bring them to Canberra Theatre Centre on August 20th.
4 time ARIA award winners, The Grigoryan Brothers are well known to Australian audiences with a long history of performances at festivals, concert halls in all capital cities, and regular performances throughout regional Australia.
Meng Su and Yameng Wang were born in the same city, met when they were studying guitar and subsequently formed the Beijing Guitar Duo. They have been based in the USA for a number of years. Both became students of Manuel Barrueco, who is regarded as one of the finest guitarists of the modern era. Mr Barrueco was so impressed by their abilities that they formed a trio that has toured extensively and recorded an album in 2014.
The Australian tour of the Grigoryan Brothers and the Beijing Guitar Duo is a platform for each duo to present their unique talents that have earned them worldwide acclaim. They will then come together to delve into each other’s cultures, focussing on Australian music, Chinese music and some European classical repertoire. This promises to be an astounding evening of guitar virtuosity.

“Su and Wang play with consummate sensitivity, as if playing a single instrument” New York Concert Review (Beijing Guitar Duo)
