The bold and compelling artistic voice of the performance makers of Australia’s Capital deserve to be heard, to be nurtured and amplified, and to be respected as a vibrant contributor to the national cultural conversation.
We’re committing to support the development and presentation of new performance work from Canberra’s artists with new Territory.
Taking a multi-year approach to the development of original, contemporary performance made by Canberra’s best professional artists, Canberra Theatre Centre will support a number teams of experienced makers, who have a demonstrated and consistent connection to the Canberra community, to explore new ideas, ignite new collaborations and partnerships, and to present their performances in our venue.
In this first year, we will be inviting up to three teams of artists into the building: offering rent-free use of our space, providing full artist fees, and giving access to the expertise of our staff, in a series of residencies designed to show Canberra, and the rest of the county, just what we are capable of. Including mentorship from some of the country’s most formidable artists, new Territory will give our performance makers the best conditions to develop their work and their craft, and for us at Canberra Theatre Centre, to get ACT artists into the building and onto our stages.
We’ll be launching guidelines and details about the EOI process very soon. For more information, email email@example.com.
